I want to learn to play the piano, but we don’t have the money or room to buy a piano.(Unless anyone knows where i can get one for under $300). Anyways i was wondering if i could take piano lessons and practice on a keyboard or if i should look for someone giving keyboard lessons?
There are 76 key keyboards with weighted keys in my price range, would that be ok?
For our FIFTH electronic keyboard ( and we also have Steinway grand) we got an M-Audio keyboard with 88 keys and adjustable velocity-sensitive action. This is not the same as weighted - but close enough for you for now. Spent under $400 at www.musiciansfriend.com.
A good piano teacher will also understand your situation, and you can begin lessons on a good keyboard. When ready - musically and financially - you can move up. But a good keyboard will keep you happy for a long time. The MAIN thing is a good teacher!

Of course you can practice on a keyboard while taking piano lessons. If you buy a nice keyboard, especially if it has al 88 keys, you should not notice much a difference between the piano and keyboard. Low quality keyboards are less responsive than a piano in that when you press down a key, no matter much or how little force you use, the volume does not change. Even if you can only get a cheap keyboard, you will still be able to use it while taking piano lessons.

I play the piano/keyboard.
You could get piano lessons on a keyboard, but not a 300 dollar one full, 88 key keyboards, with weighted keys (which is what you need) can run $650 and up into the thousands.
